The most important decision you will make in the life of your Havana Silk Dog is where you will get her!
You are getting a dog who will be family member for life. For a healthy Havana Silk Dog, this can be 15+ years.
Your breeder will be a friend, mentor, and resource. They will be interested in
the puppies they produce long after the dog has left their home. Even more importantly,
the health of your Havana Silk Dog puppy depends in large part on the dogs in its pedigree.

You may wonder a bit at the price of a Havana Silk Dog puppy. After all, perhaps you only want
a "pet quality" Havana Silk Dog - a Companion. But it still does matter. The smaller part of what you will
spend on a dog is the purchase price; there will be food and toys and vet care and crates.
Buying a Havana Silk Dog from a breeder who doesn't health test doesn't guarantee your puppy
will have health problems. But driving 120 mph on the freeways of Houston doesn't
guarantee you'll get a ticket or have an accident, either.

Questions to Ask

Ask to see soaped pictures, of both parents and grandparents of the puppies (why?)
Ask what health testing is done, on parents and grandparents, and
check the OFA site to confirm testing or ask to see certificates
